Tennessee Drivers Pay 27.4 Cents Per Gallon in State Gas Taxes | The Center SquareState gas taxes and fees in Tennessee amount to 27.4 cents per gallon, the 30th-highest rate among the 50 states, according to an analysis by the website 24/7 Wall St.  As of January, the average price of a gallon of gasoline in Tennessee was $2.27. And the state’s gas tax as a share of the total cost of a gallon of gas stood at 12.1 percent.
