Today's Infrastructure News

During his State of the Union address, President Donald Trump called on Congress to pass the highway authorization bill the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee had approved last summer. The bipartisan bill would authorize $287 billion over five years for highways, tunnels and bridges.  Full Story: Engineering News-Record (tiered subscription model) 

Federal funding for transportation is due to expire in September, and state transportation departments are concerned about what will happen if a replacement bill is not signed in time. DOT market sector leader John Barton takes a look at what would happen in that eventuality, including the likelihood that existing projects in many states would grind to a halt.
