The roll-out of Lakeway Transit, Morristown’s fixed-route mass-transit system, will be delayed from October until early December, Rich DesGrosseilliers, the Lakeway Area Metropolitan Transportation Planning Organization coordinator said this morning. The reason for the delay is only one of the seven or eight buses required for the transit system has been delivered. Also missing, DesGrosseilliers says, are transit signs, posts and shelters, but those can be ready in a relatively short period of time. Lakeway Transit will be funded through federal and state funds, along with help from the East Tennessee Human Resources Agency, which will operate the system.
